It all sounds amazing!

But then, when you try to figure out what it’s actually going to cost... crickets. Or worse, you're led down a rabbit hole of emails, texts, and vague sales pitches before you can get a straight answer.

2. How much do images cost, and how are they sold?

This is a big one. Are images sold individually or as part of a collection? Do you have to buy a certain number, or can you choose what works for you? Pricing should be clear and upfront so you know what to expect.

3. If prints or products are included,
what exactly am I getting?

A lot of luxury photographers sell “collections” that include prints, albums, or wall art. If that’s the case, ask for specifics: What sizes? What materials? Are these high-quality archival prints, or something you could order yourself for less?

4. Do I get digital images? If so,
what does that actually mean?

Not all digital images are created equal. Some photographers only provide web-sized files, which are great for social media but not for printing. Ask: Will I receive high-resolution files? Can I print them myself, and if so, up to what size?

5. If I buy digital images, can I print my own wall art?

Many luxury photographers sell wall art, but what if you want to print your own? Ask: Can I take my digital images and print canvases or large framed prints elsewhere? Are there any restrictions? Some photographers only allow printing through their studio, so it's good to know this upfront.

6. What’s the price range I should expect to spend in total?

7. Do you offer payment plans?

If you love a photographer but the price is a stretch, ask if they offer payment plans. Many do, and it can make the investment more manageable.

8. What’s the experience actually like?

Beyond the portfolio, what happens on the day of your shoot? Is there a stylist? How much guidance will you get for posing? If you’re new to professional photography, make sure you feel comfortable with the process.

9. How does the ordering process work?

Will you see all your images in an online gallery, or will you need to book an in-person ordering session? Are you expected to decide on the spot, or will you have time to think about it?

10. If I want more images later, can I buy them?

Some photographers have a one-time ordering session and that’s it. Others let you come back later if you want more. If you're indecisive (raises hand), it's good to know if you have flexibility.
